Forwards Coach Hails Owens

Robin McBryde, the forwards coach for the Wales Rugby Team has declared that he will be using Ken Owens as the top choice hooker in the side as the team gets ready for a three test match series against reigning Tri Nations champions Australia.

JONES STILL THE HEARTBEAT

One of the biggest questions that has come up with regards to the Wales Rugby Team over the last couple of years is what will the team do without their talismanic Adam Jones and although the traditional norm is no one is irreplaceable, particularly in a team sport, the winner of three Grand Slams, Jones, is very close to becoming the single exception to that norm.

ROBERTS HITS THE HEADLINES

Whilst one Welsh centre has been hogging the headlines there is a more pressing issue for Welsh fans.

With Henson up to his usual business making headlines for all the wrong reasons, Jamie Roberts was being rules out of Rugby for up to six months with a knee injury that will require surgery.

Roberts will now miss Wales’ tour of Australia in the summer and with Henson’s antics seemingly ruling him out it provides an opportunity for one of Wales’ young stars to gain some international experience.

WALES MISSING DAVIES

Wales will be without lock Bradley Davies for the duration of the Six Nations after he was handed a seven-week ban for dangerous tackling.

Davies was sin-binned by referee Wayne Barnes for a tip tackle on Ireland’s Donnacha Ryan on Sunday, and was also cited for the incident.

He was subsequently suspended at a Six Nations disciplinary hearing in London on Wednesday after pleading guilty to foul play. Davies has the right to appeal the seven-week suspension, but Wales coach Warren Gatland has admitted the offence was worthy of a red card.

Warburton aims for Six Nations Title

The Welsh national team captain is positive of Wales’ chances at capturing the 2012 Six Nations trophy. Sam Warburton believes that the Welsh players will be able to lift the trophy above their heads on March 17. That’s when their play the last match of the tournament against France, at the Millenium Stadium, in Cardiff.

WALES SWEAT ON FITNESS

The Wales rugby team is literally sweating it out as they are panicked and worked up regarding their condition in the Six Nation’s Championship.

With their flanker, Dan Lydiate forced off due to the presence of an ankle injury, their fitness squad hopes that no one else has to face such a fiasco as this will only make the team’s strength weaken and put them in a difficult position when it comes to the Six Nation’s matches.

POWELL CONFIDENT OF WALES FUTURE

Andy Powell may be missing out on playing for Wales in this weekend’s clash with Australia but he is confident the Welsh team are under the right leadership to have a very bright future.

Powell will be lining up for his English club, Sale Sharks this weekend rather than meeting up with his international team mates. He is confident the future is bright for his international colleagues though.

SPRINGBOKS BEAT WALES

The Springboks easily beat the Welsh rugby union in the semi-final of the recent cup tournament. Alex Cuthbert and Kristian Phillips put Wales ahead in Edinburgh before Bernado Botha, Kyle Brown and Paul Delport put South Africa in control.

Cuthbert’s late try and Warren Davies’ kick was not enough as Wales lost 22-19 after beating France in the quarters.

Adam Thomas and Jevon Groves scored as Wales defeated the French 13-10.

CARLING TALKS ABOUT COACH’S IMPOSING ATTITUDE

England legend Will Carling has said that the imposing attitude of Wales coach Warren Gatland does not suit them.

Carling says Gatland should pick James Hook at fly-half and “set him free”.

“Trying to play a set-piece and a restrained style… is not bringing the best out of the Welsh,” said Carling.

“It might be easy for me to say, but… when Wales are at their best and most dangerous is when they are just playing and taking risks.”
